Ministers, officials to visit Delhi today to check 125-ft model statue of BR Ambedkar
Vijayawada: A delegation of ministers and officials, led by Ambedkar Vigraha Nirmana Committee chairman and minister for social welfare Merugu Nagarjuna, to visit Delhi on Tuesday to inspect the 125-feet model statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
In a statement issued here here on Monday, the minister said that based on directions from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to ensure installation of the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in PWD grounds in Vijayawada by the ensuing birth anniversary celebrations of Dalit icon, they were proceeding to Delhi to inspect the model statue made with clay in a studio in Delhi. The minister said that after inspecting the model statue of Ambedkar, they would give a final approval so that it would be built in the city as part of ‘Dr B.R. Ambedkar Swaraj Mydan’ scheme.
The delegation includes: Members of the committee: Deputy CM and minister for endowments Kottu Satyanarayana, minister for education Botsa Satyanarayana, minister for municipal administration Adimulapu Suresh, social welfare principal secretary Jayalakshmi and others.
