Why Gouravelli still not completed, Ponnam asks CM
Karimnagar: Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar of the Congress questioned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao why his government could not complete the Gouravelli project in the Husnabad constituency even after nine years of Telangana formation as he promised during the statehood movement.
Speaking at a party meeting in Husnabad of Karimnagar district on Tuesday, Ponnam said that the foundation stone for the construction of the project was laid in 2007 during the Congress regime with a target of irrigation to one lakh acres and completed almost 70 per cent of the works of it.
Again, during his poll campaign in 2014, the BRS chief promised the people of Husnabad to complete the project. But there were no signs of any progress in the works, Ponnam said.
He called upon the people of the constituency to confront MLA V. Satish Kumar about the development and irrigation facility in Husnabad.
Despite the feasibility, Ponnam asked the MLA why he couldn’t develop the Yellamma Cheruvu spread over several acres into a tourist spot in Husnabad when minister T. Harish Rao could do it at the small Komati Cheruvu in Siddipet.
The BRS government never gave proper recognition to the Telangana activists. All should teach a befitting lesson to the BRS in coming Assembly elections, he appealed to the people.
