Hyderabad: In a major blow to the BRS in the city, the party’s GHMC floor leader floor leader and three-time Madhapur corporator V. Jagadeeshwar Goud, and his wife Pujitha, twice Hafeezpet corporator, are likely to join the Congress.
Sources said that the Congress had offered to field Jagadeeshwar Goud from Serilingampally. They were the only couple who were able to bag BRS tickets, twice.
Goud was previously in the Congress, having contested as a corporator on the party in 2009 and won. In 2016 and 2021, he contested on a BRS ticket. His wife was also elected in the 2016 and 2021 elections.
The other GHMC corporators who are trying their luck for a ticket include Khairatabad corporator P. Vijaya Reddy. She left the BRS and joined the Congress in 2022 and is lobbying for the Khairatabad ticket.
Uppal corporator M. Rajitha Reddy of the Congress is also trying for a nomination from Uppal.
