AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju found out to his dismay recently. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a quick visit to Vizag, squeezed in a meeting with the AP BJP core committee, where he asked them about the number of districts in AP. A question that unfortunately stumped Veeraju, who responded with 21 instead of the right answer 26.
He was bailed out thanks to some urgent whispers from others with the right answer. Next came another question from Modi, this time about the number of mandals in the state.
The AP BJP chief had to once again be saved by another leader who explained AP’s basic administrative geographical units. Modi, meanwhile, stopped his grilling and got down to other business, but for Veerraju the fallout from his fumbling is expected to pose an even tougher challenge in the days to come.
