BRS Seeks Ban on Revanth\'s Campaigning

Hyderabad: The BRS on Monday sought a ban on election campaigning by Telangana Congress president A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of making comments designed to incite people into violence.

In its petition to Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj by BRS legal cell head Soma Bharat, the ruling party accused Revanth Reddy of repeatedly inciting Congress workers into attacking BRS candidates.

He said the Congress was conspiring to unleash violence in the run-up to the November 30 elections. Just in a space of one week, there were attacks on the BRS’ Dubbak candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and Achampet’s Guvvala Balaraju. “And in the wake of such attacks, Revanth Reddy was continuing to speak irresponsibly. Have there been such incidents in the past ten years in BRS rule? People should pay attention to why these incidents are occurring now and who is responsible for such violence and attacks.

“Revanth Reddy is a star campaigner for the Congress party, he should have been responsible for his comments,” Soma Bharat said.

He also said that the BRS has once again requested the CEO to stop Congress from airing its advertisements targeting the ruling party. The ads that the Congress showed the committee looking into implementing the Model Code of Conduct are different from those the Congress has released for the public to see, he added.
