Congress govt in Pondy supports Karnataka: N Rangasamy
Puducherry: All India NR Congress (AINRC) chief and former Chief Minister N Rangasamy accused the Congress government in Puducherry of working in support of Karnataka government on Cauvery water dispute. The leader of opposition alleged that the territorial administration failed to mount pressure on the union government for constituting Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
"Congress is ruling Karnataka and so the Narayanasamy government shows less interest in pressurising the Centre on CMB. The government in Tamil Nadu had filed a petition and pressurized the centre, but the government here is blaming others without taking proper initiatives in constituting CMB.", Said Mr Rangasamy while talking to reporters here.
Instead of blaming Lt.Governor for not giving permission for filing contempt of court petition, there should be pressure on the Central government to get the due share of Cauvery water for Karaikal region, he added.
The AINRC leader said that the Chief Minister should have met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Chennai on Thursday and submitted a memorandum pressing for the CMB. Mr Rangasamy said he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi along with his party men to press for CMB.
