BRS, Congress battle over flexis in Karimnagar
KARIMNAGAR: A battle broke out between Congress and BRS leaders over flexi posters at several villages in Kothapally mandal of Karimnagar district on Thursday.
It started with BRS leaders putting up flexis in villages of Kothapally
mandal on Wednesday against TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, condemning the latter’s comments on three-hour power supply to the farming sector in Telangana. The flexis said no Congress leader or Revanth Reddy will be allowed to enter those villages.
On coming to know about it, Karimnagar Congress Assembly segment in-charge Merneni Rohit Rao, along with his followers, visited the villages on Wednesday night and removed the flexis put up by the BRS leaders.
When BRS leaders came to know about this, they laid a siege at Rohit Rao’s house on Thursday and raised slogans against the Congress. They went on to burn the effigy of TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy in front of the Congress leader’s house.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and brought the
situation under control just as BRS leaders tried to storm Rohit Rao’s
house.
Condemning the act of BRS leaders, Rohit Rao, along with DCC president Dr. K. Satyanarayana and city Congress president K. Narendar Reddy met police officials and lodged a complaint against the BRS leaders seeking immediate action.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Rao said around 50 members of BRS and followers of BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar tried to attack him and his family members after burning effigy in the front yard of his house.
The Congress leader demanded that police register a case against minister Kamalakar and BRS leaders for attempting to attack him and his family. Rohit Rao demanded that they be arrested immediately.
