Hyderabad: Tension gripped Alwal when followers of BRS legislator from Malkajgiri, Mynampaly Hanumantha Rao and BJYM national treasurer P.M. Sai Prasad clashed over encroachment of property on Wednesday.
Sai Prasad took out a bike rally in the locality in protest against Rao’s
alleged encroachment of properties.
Furious over the protest, the MLA’s followers rushed to the locality and had heated arguments with BJYM members, whom they also assaulted.
"We took out a bike rally in protest against Rao, who is grabbing government and private lands by illegal means," Sai Prasad said.
On coming to know of the incident, police deployed forces in Alwal and old Alwal. Police dispersed the mob even as the groups were assaulting each other. However, Hanumantha Rao did not respond to the issue.
Alwal police took several persons into custody.
