Banish people supporting Amaravati: Speaker
Vishakapatnam: Ignoring all the protocols that are associated with the post of Speaker, a constitutional entity, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram on Thursday made sensational comments in Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam meeting held in Rapaka village of Ponduru mandal in his home district Srikakulam, suggesting banishing of people supporting Amaravati as capital. He further said north Andhra was becoming another ball of fire.
He said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted to do justice to all the regions and hence suggested the concept of three capitals.
“We should welcome the decision of the Chief Minister,’’ the Speaker said.
Vice-president of the sate BJP and former MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju said the comment from the Speaker was atrocious and manifestation of arrogance of the ruling party.
“Let him try to banish BJP workers from his district, we will see,’’ the former floor leader of the BJP said.
He said the President and Governor of Andhra Pradesh should take notice of the Speaker’s comments and initiate appropriate action against him.
