Council chief reviews security ahead of 1st Assembly session
Hyderabad: With the first Assembly session of Telangana state after the new government was sworn in, beginning on January 17, the security arrangements were reviewed in a meeting held by Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud and Telangana Assembly secretary Vedantam Narasimhacharyulu on Monday. The meeting was attended by DGP M. Mahender Reddy and a few other police officials and government officials.
The Assembly session will be held for four days starting from January 17.
MIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan will be sworn in as the pro-tem speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly on January 16 at around 5 pm. The governor will administer the oath to him.
On January 17, the Assembly meeting will be held at around 11.30 am when the newly elected MLAs will be sworn in. The swearing in of all MLAs will take around two hours.
On the same day, there will be the schedule for speaker elections, followed by the nominations of the speaker candidates. The speaker’s election and the announcement will be done on January 18 followed by a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee. The governor of Telangana state will address the legislators in the joint session of the Assembly and Legislative Council on January 19. There will be a resolution thanking the governor on January 20, the last day of the session.
Speaking to media persons, Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said, “We had a meeting with all the departments regarding the assembly session.
All the points in the assembly have been inspected and instructions given. We have taken all precautionary measures for the smooth conduct of the assembly session. The meeting has already been organised with the fire and traffic departments and special police and directions given.”
