Kannur: The FIR on the murder of Congress block secretary S.P. Shuhaib on Monday night hints at the involvement of the CPM on the basis of the statements recorded.
A special investigation team led by Iritty DySP was constituted and several persons with allegiance to the CPM were taken into custody and questioned on Wednesday.
Pointing to the CPM role, his friends have revealed and circulated WhatsApp voice messages, claiming to be that of Shuhaib, in which he has expressed his concern over threats from CPM men. He said he might be attacked any time and that it was not revealed to the family ‘not to scare them’.
His father Muhammed said on Wednesday that he was not happy with the police probe.
“He was attacked in jail by the CPM prisoners. There were repeated threats against him directly and indirectly. He was jailed in a fake case in April,” Mr Muhammed said. Kannur SP G. Siva Vikram said that he was yet to hear the voice clips. “We are trying to recover the vehicle in which the accused arrived. The investigation is progressing,” he added.
IG Mahipal Yadav had revealed that preliminary investigation hinted at CPM involvement. Referring to the comments of Mr Muhammed, he said that “the father has every right to be concerned over the murder of his son. His concern is legitimate. We could not pinpoint the persons, but the investigation is in the right direction,” said the IG.
