Congress not to use Sabarimala for votes
Thrissur: Sabarimala women-entry is not a major poll plank and the issue will not be politicised by the Congress party, KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has said.
Speaking to mediapersons here as a part of the Janamaha Yatra on Thursday, Mr Ramachandran said that though the Congress party was with the devotees on the Sabarimala issue, as a secular political party Congress could not use the Sabarimala a political rallying point and use it for political gains, he noted.
“The LDF government which failed to give protection to anyone in the state is now conducting a yatra named Kerala Samrakshana Yatra. He also said that there was no clarity in the rebuilding works conducted after the historic floods in the state last year and the money received as contributions and aid,” he added. Mr Ramachandran made it clear that there were no political adjustments in Kerala with CPM and the Marxist party remains a major political opponent in the state for Congress.
He also said that action would be taken against those persons who were involved in the poster campaign named ‘vayasa-num venda varuthanum’ in Thrissur allegedly by a section of the Congress workers in view of the Lok Sabha polls.
“The Kerala Police has come under pressure from the ruling CPM and that was the reason why no case was not slapped against the party MLA S Rajendran for insulting Devikulam sub-collector Renuraj,” he added.
