Congress to support AP bandh: N Raghuveera Reddy
Guntur: AP Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy claimed that only the Congress party is capable of giving Special Category Status to AP. He expressed hope that Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi will come into power in the next elections and give SCS and fulfil all bifurcation promises.
The Congress leaders conducted a ‘silence rally’ for Constitution protection tying black ribbons across their mouths. The rally that was from Congress office to Lodge Centre in the city on Saturday paid floral tributes to the statute of B.R. Ambedkar.
Mr Rahuveera Reddy said that UPA-3 government will put the first signature on SCS immediately after coming into power with public support. He alleged that attacks on SC, ST, BC, women and minorities had increased largely under the rule of BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi totally failed to restrain those atrocities. He said that majority people of suppressed classes were living in fear due to aggressiveness of BJP and Sangh Parivar. He alleged that BJP and TD were deceiving the public on the SCS issue and announced that Congress party leaders and activists will join the AP bandh on April 16 demanding SCS.
He announced that Congress will conduct candlelight rallies on April 17 evening with ‘Pratiyeka Hoda Kavalantay-Rahul Gandhi Ravali’ (Rahul should come to power to get SCS) slogan.
Guntur district Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjuna Rao, APCC SC wing chairman K. Vinay Kumar, former MLA Sk Mastan Vali and other leaders with activists participated in the protest programme.
