Pawan Kalyan Urges People to Give Him One Chance

Kathipudi: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has pleaded with the people to grant him one chance to be in power so that he would show “real development for AP and provide corruption-free governance.”

Addressing a public meeting at Kathipudi on Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan said he had been running the party for 10 years with the funds he generated as an actor and contributions from the party supporters. “It is time you all vote for my party on the Tumbler symbol and elect me to power. I will step into the Assembly for sure and let me see who can stop me from doing so,” he said.

He targeted Chief Minister, saying Jagan Mohan Reddy misused the taxes paid by the people and raised the state’s debts to implement welfare schemes.

“I promise you that I shall create wealth for the state by stopping all corrupt practices, be it illegal mining of sand or something else, and help especially the youths with industrial units and jobs,” the actor on a tour programme said.

Pawan Kalyan said the YSRC leaders were targeting him as he exposed them and criticised them as they “ignored” the interests of those like the construction labourers. The government is even taking away money from their welfare fund and ... see the poor road conditions in the state,” he said.

Pawan flayed the CM by saying he was coming up with three capitals instead of developing Amaravati, even after supporting it to be AP’s capital while he was leader of the opposition. “He had called for more acres and vowed to develop Amaravati as capital once his party was elected to power. Later, he changed his tune.” He also said that if the Polavaram project was to be completed, the Jana Sena should be elected to power.

Maintaining that the YSRC government was planning to advance the polls to either November or December, the JS leader said, “My focus is only on AP politics and whether my party contests in the polls a single party or in alliance with other parties is yet to be decided. I will not purchase votes by offering money to the voters but promise them a corruption-free governance.”

“I respect central leaders, but when it is an issue of the interests of AP, I will fight for it without any hesitation and I want to be in the land of AP for 25 years.”

He called upon the people in Godavari districts to support the Jana Sena, saying they are the game changers for the entire AP in the next polls. “Though I wanted to support people from my own caste, I want the people from other castes too to win political power. It should not be restricted to any one caste,” he said in an oblique reference to the ruling YSRC government.

He said actually there were only two castes -- one being powerful and the other being without power.

Earlier, he offered special prayers to Lord Satyanarayana at the Annavaram temple and offered puja to his Varahi campaign vehicle. He held a road show from Annavaram to Kathipudi by travelling atop Varahi to reach Kathipudi and address the people.
