Maha fight in Kutami on seat share for polls
Hyderabad: The Congress has asked senior leader K. Jana Reddy to handle discussions regarding seat adjustments with Prajakutami partners after the party began facing pressure from the Telangana Jana Samiti which staked claim to 36 seats and wanted a quick decision.
TJS leaders Dilip Kumar and Rachana Reddy met Mr Jana Reddy at his residence on Sunday and handed over the 36 names of candidates. The Congress is not ready to give more than eight seats to the TJS.
Sources said the Congress has asked the TJS representatives to field its candidates on the Congress symbol. They also requested TJS chief Prof. M. Kodandaram not to contest the polls and limit himself to the campaign.
The Congress has promised him a Deputy Chief Minister posting as chairman of the Telangana Development Council, and importance to the TJS during the Legislative Council elections. TJS representatives said they would discuss these proposals with the leadership.
Speaking to media persons after their meeting with Mr Jana reddy, Mr Dilip Kumar said, “We discussed seat sharing and several other matters. We also submitted a list of 36 candidates. The total number of seats is not yet finalised. Seat adjustments is not a big issue. Some people are saying that the TJS is unhappy and I urge the people not to believe these speculations. Everything will be clear in two to three days.”
