CPI meet calls for ouster of BJP from power

“The ousting of the BJP- RSS from power is the \"biggest challenge\" and “a historical task\" for the people, Raja said

VIJAYAWADA: A five-km long 'March Past' through the city roads by red volunteers of the CPI marked the start of the party’s 24th All India Congress here on Friday. A public meeting was held at the Makineni Basava Punnaiah Stadium in which CPI leaders made a call to the people to “oust the BJP from power” and “save” the country.

CPI general secretary D Raja said the policies of BJP were “disastrous” for the country and it would be defeated in the 2024 general-parliament elections.

Thousands of party activists, as also leaders and delegates from various states, and some international delegates attended the public meeting. Heavy rains however dampened the enthusiasm of the partymen attending the public meeting.

Raja said saw a threat to democracy in India from the “suppressive” policies of the BJP. He underlined the need to protect secularism, democracy and the rights of the people. “The ousting of the BJP- RSS from power is the "biggest challenge" and “a historical task" for the people, he said.

Raja said, “The BJP is branding the opposition parties and civil society organisations as Urban Naxals, anti nationals, and Maoists.”

CPI national secretary K Narayana said “the CPI is ready to work with any party” to defeat the BJP in the 2024 elections. “The BJP is misusing government agencies such as CBI, ED etc to conduct raids on the opposition parties and organisations that opposed its policies.”

CPI former general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, national leaders Ram Naresh Pandey, Diwakar Naik, KE Ismail, Girish, Azeez Pasha, state party secretary K Ramakrishna, Telangana party secretary K Sambasiva Rao and others were present.

The CPI also organised a rally from the Kedareswarapet fruit market near BRTS road to MBP stadium.
