KCR to Launch Poll Campaign Today

KCR, a staunch believer in numerology, decided to launch the campaign on October 15 as the digits add up to six, his lucky number

Karimnagar: Aiming for a third consecutive term to helm Telangana, BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will launch the party’s campaign from the ‘lucky’ constituency of Husnabad, from where he launched the past two poll campaigns, on Sunday.

After winning the polls in 2014 and 2018, assuming the office as Chief Minister for two consecutive terms, Rao is now aiming for a third consecutive term, an unprecedented feat in southern India’s political ecosystem.

Party sources said that Rao will continue his sentiment with Husnabad, before embarking on a spree to address 41 public meetings in 24 days, till November 9. They said that Rao, who is also a staunch believer in numerology, decided to launch the campaign on October 15 as the digits add up to six, his lucky number.

Leaders and cadres have made elaborate arrangements for the Chief Minister’s first public since the Election Commission of India (ECI) released the schedule for the Telangana Assembly polls on October 9.

Finance minister T.Harish Rao has been camping in Husnabad for the past five days to monitor arrangements and mobilise crowds for Rao’s meeting. Husnabad MLA Vodithala Satish Kumar and party leaders have geared up to mobilise around one lakh people for the meeting, being held under the title of ‘Praja Ashirwada Sabha’.

After inspecting the meeting venue and helipad on Saturday, MLA Satish Kumar said that special galleries were also established for women and disabled persons who wish to attend the meeting.

Before addressing the public meeting, Rao will visit the residence of former BRS Rajya Sabha member Captain Laxmikantha Rao in Husnabad, take his blessings, as is his routine every time, and then proceed to launch the election campaign.
