Telangana Assembly Polls: Congress opts for wait-watch strategy in Boath, Mudhole
Adilabad: The selection of candidates for the Boath and Mudhole seats has not been finalised by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) screening committee as the AICC election committee is waiting for the joining of leaders from other parties in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
Speculations are doing rounds that Adilabad BJP MP Soyam Bapu Rao and former MLA Narayan Rao Patel may join the party Congress.
However, Lambada and some leaders in the TPCC are opposing Bapurao’s joining.
It is said that the party's high command is thinking twice before giving tickets to the comers and NRIs.
Narayan Rao Patel told the Deccan Chronicle that TPCC leaders and party state incharge Manikrao Thakre have contacted him and the discussions were on.
He said that he would take a decision only in the Shravana Masam after the completion of the ‘Pitru Masam’ and waiting for auspicious days. He added that there was a huge delay in TPCC contacting me.
He said it was very tough for any leader to prepare for the elections in a month's time in the changed political scenario.
News is that the Congress party’s high command wants to take a few days to make a decision on the joining of Soyam Bapu Rao.
Ticket aspirants from the Boath Assembly constituency were facing an embarrassing situation with the news that Soyam was likely to join the Congress and contest from the Boath seat.
The Congress party high command also kept the selection of the candidate for the Adilabad seat since consensus has not emerged on the selection of a candidate.
On the other hand, BRS MLA Rekha Naik and her husband Shyam Naik are still trying for the Congress party ticket from Khanapur and Asifabad constituencies respectively.
However, the senior Congress leaders are opposing the entry of the Rekha Naik.
Congress senior leaders Ade Gajender, Naresh Jadhav, Vennela Ashok and Thudum Debba district president Godam Ganesh are aspiring to party ticket from the Boath while Marsakola Saraswati and Rathod Ganesh are aspiring ticket from the Asifabad.
Senior Congress leaders TPCC general secretary Vedma Bojju, Mahila Congress district president Charulatha Rathod, Tribal wing state vice- president Bharath Chowhan and others were lobbying for the ticket from Khanapur. News is that TPCC president Revanth Reddy was in favour of Vedma Bojju.
