Hyderabad: Muslim organisation extends support to Congress
Hyderabad: City-based Muslim organisation Tahreek Muslim Shabban has formally declared its support for the Indian National Congress in the 2023 Telangana Elections. A press note released by the organisation said that they had given a 13 points “Charter of Demands of Muslims of Telangana” to different political parties in Telangana, following which Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre, Secretary Mansoor Ali Khan, among other leaders, discussed the issues mentioned in the charter with the leaders of the organisation.
However, the organisation said that they will not be extending its support to the national party in 6 constituencies in the state, which are Bodhan, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Chandrangutta, Goshamahal and Charminar. The statement further specified that the organisation’s aim in Goshamahal is to “defeat hatred” and the “BJP candidate who (is) involved in blasphemy.” BJP’s Goshamahal candidate is the incumbent MLA T Raja Singh, who had earlier landed in a controversy after releasing a video repeating the then BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s comments against Prophet Mohammed.
