Telangana Polls: Uttam seeks support of legal fraternity
Hyderabad: Congress MP and Huzurnagar candidate N. Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the legal fraternity to support Congress in the upcoming Assembly
elections.
Addressing a meeting of the Bar Association in Huzurnagar on Wednesday, Reddy acknowledged the legal profession's impactful role in the Telangana statehood movement. Expressing disappointment at the BRS government, Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had failed to fulfill several promises made to the legal community, including the 'two lakh health and accidental insurance cover for advocates and their spouses.
The Congress leader lamented that the assurances of allocating funds ranging from Rs 50,000 to five lakh to each district bar association based on membership remained unfulfilled. He reassured the legal community that the next Congress government
would prioritise welfare of advocates and also address their demands pertaining to health, housing, and other related issues.
The state government had pledged Rs 10 lakh assistance in case of accidents but never implemented it, he said.
