Meet Uttar Pradesh 2017 poll candidate, 'Fakkad Baba', who has predicted his victory
Mathura: Amid the hustle and bustle of upcoming polls in five states, 'Fakkad baba' from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura is all set to contest the election for the 16th time.
He began contesting election, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, in 1976.
However, what makes this 'baba' - a news is his prediction that he would win the election when he contests it for the 20th time.
Following a prophecy by his guru, Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati of the Jagannath Puri peeth that he would win the 20th election he contested, the baba is now preparing to file his nomination papers for the 16th time.
"All politicians are liars. Only ascetics like me can ensure honesty in public life and development for the people," he said.
The 73-year-old, who lives in a night shelter, aims to change the face of Uttar Pradesh politics, which he thinks is corrupt and based on cash.
"Unlike politicians who forget their voters after being elected, I will ensure development of the city and its residents," he added
Baba claims that he will get defeated not only in this poll but also for the next three simultaneous polls.
Fakkad baba alias Ramayani Baba has been contesting polls since 1976. Baba has no guilt for his continuous defeats.
When asked about the leaders of the state, he said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is a competent leader as he has contributed a lot for the state.
