Bandi says KCR cheated tribals
Hyderabad: BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for deceiving the tribals.
“The Chief Minister claims that he made tribal thandas as gram panchayats, but failed to release any funds for them. If he is sincere, he should implement 12 per cent reservations to Lambadas immediately,” he demanded.
“The Chief Minister has claimed to have converted tribal hamlets into gram panchayats but has not been releasing even a single paisa for them. The tribals have been migrating to cities for petty jobs like auto rickshaw driving and manual labour,” he said.
Addressing the gathering on the birth anniversary of tribal spiritual guru Santh Sevalal Maharaj at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan on Wednesday, Sanjay described him as the saviour of the Banjara tribe, which suffered at the hands of the British and the Muslim rulers.
“Born as a simple human being, Sevalal had shown the path of divinity to the Banjaras and taught them how to fight to protect their culture and tradition,” Sanjay said and promised to construct a mandir for Sevalal at Banjara Hills and develop it as a pilgrim centre.
BJP chief announced the formation of a separate corporation for the development of Girijan hamlets, if the party is voted to power in Telangana. As many as eight Girijans had been inducted into the Central cabinet, while an Adivasi woman had been made the President of India.
“In Telangana, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been cheating the tribals. He doesn’t attend the birth or death anniversary meetings of any of the Dalit or tribal leaders like Sevalal Maharaj, Ambedkar, Phule and Jagjivan Ram,” he said.
He alleged that the tribal areas in Telangana were totally neglected with no drinking water supply under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme and no proper road network.
