Hyderabad: Urging that the records of proceedings of K. Jana Reddy’s alleged statements supporting the BRS from 2014 be handed over to clear the air, Congress Legislators called on Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy at his chambers in the Assembly.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLAs T. Jagga Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu said that the delay in handing over the video record was damaging his stature, as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has frequently misquoted K. Jana Reddy for political benefit, thereby leading to his “character assassination”.
They pointed out that as Leader of Opposition on November 14, 2014, while discussing the Annual Financial Statement (Budget) 2014-15 he had stated, “If the government can complete the production of power of 20,000 MW within a span of 3 years he shall support TRS party and provide publicity”.
“Unfortunately his statement has been misquoted saying, “if the government could provide power for 24 hours for agriculture, he would campaign in favour of the TRS. This is completely baseless,” the leaders said.
The MLAs alleged that despite their requests to provide the video of the Assembly proceedings, it was not being done.
The MLAs have sought the intervention of the Speaker for ending this row, as the Chief Minister, ministers and ruling party MLAs are misquoting him.
