Sumalatha Ambareesh offers tulabhara, promotes son’s movie Amar
Hubballi: Actor-turned-politician, Sumalatha Ambareesh, who was recently elected Member of Parliament from Mandya, performed the Tulabhara at the famed Nuggikeri Hanuman temple in Dharwad on Saturday, to fulfil a vow she had taken during the Lok Sabha poll.
She was weighed against 15 kg of ghee and 75 kg of sugar in the presence of hundreds of fans of her late husband, M H Ambareesh, the “Rebel star” of Kannada films and a veteran politician himself.
Her son, Abhishek was also weighed against a quintal of sugar and ghee to the chanting of hymns by the temple priests.
Speaking to reporters after performing a special pooja at the temple, Ms Sumalatha said that several fans of Ambareesh across the state had taken a vow to perform such rituals praying for her victory in Mandya and recalled that she had come to Hubballi-Dharwad over seven years ago with him.
She also peformed pooja for the success of her son's movie 'Amar' and attended the promotion of the film at the Srinivas theatre in Dharwad accompanied by its producer, Rockline Venkatesh, director, Yogaraj Bhat, and actor, Doddanna.
“Ambareesh had dreamt of watching our son, Abhishek's first movie. The people can fulfill his dream by going out to see the film,” Ms Sumalatha said and later entertained the audience by singing songs of her old films with Ambareesh. Abhishek spoke a few dialogue from his movie, “Amar” as part of the event.
