BCs recognized in Congress rule: VHR

Former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao, chairman of the BC Declaration Committee, stated that the Congress could only do justice to the Backward Classes if it was in power.

He said that the Congress will preserve the rights of BCs. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi observed the problems of Other Backward Classes (OBC), he stated.

On Wednesday, a preparatory meeting for BC Garjana was held here. Hanumantha Rao, speaking during the meeting, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for posturing as an OBC leader while 56 per cent of the country's OBCs are denied justice.

Former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi worked tirelessly for the advancement of BCs, he recalled. Former PCC president urged BC politicians to unify in order to get representation in the upcoming elections.

Hanumantha Rao accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of defrauding socially backward people under the guise of Dalit Bandhu. He stated that the Congress will undoubtedly gain power and do justice to the underprivileged.

Former government whip Eravatri Anil Kumar suggested that a BC leader be included in the PCC screening committee for MLA ticket finalisation. He said that only five BC leaders were included on the 29-member PCC elections committee.

Meanwhile, Congress lawmakers observed a two-minute silence in memory of Balladeer Gaddar's death. B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, TPCC working president, Tahet Bin Hamdan, Gadugu Gangadhar, former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy, and other senior leaders were present.
