India can become global leader, says Naidu's 2047 document

VISAKHAPATNAM: Former chief minister and TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu laid bare his five strategies on how India could lead the world economy by the year 2047 -- marking the hundredth year of Independence.

He released a document titled ‛India, Indians, Telugus Vision 2047’, in a park on Visakhapatnam Beach Road to mark Independence Day on Tuesday.

Naidu took a walk from NTR Statue on the beach road and reached the park with hundreds of followers in tow. There, he explained his vision for India and the contents of the document through power point presentation.

According to Naidu, if five strategies are adopted, India will become the global leader.

The first strategy, he said, was energy that could be a game-changer. Power sector reforms that he had brought in made Andhra Pradesh a leader in the energy sector, he claimed.

“The cost of solar power dropped from ₹8 per unit to ₹2, because of the solar wind and pumped energy generation system adopted by the state under his rule.

Stressing the importance of river linking, the TD chief said only AP could complete the Godavari- Krishna linking in a record time through the Pattiseema lift irrigation project. This turned arid Rayalaeema into fertile land, he said.

On digital technology, he said it can change the pace of development as drones, robotics, quantum computing etc would totally change all walks of life including agriculture, health, education, governance and transport in future.

Naidu explained in the vision document that demographic management played a major role in achieving the targets. Observing that India has more working population than a dependent population, the former CM said the number of earning population in the age group of 15 - 59 is fast declining, particularly in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, the population in the same age group is increasing in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, he noted.

Explaining his fifth strategy, Naidu expressed the hope that the Indian economy will grow and set an example for the global economy. Indians are the biggest diaspora globally, forming around 1.8 crores, he said, adding that the Non-Resident Indians living in the US are the richest in the world.
