Revanth booked for objectionable comments

HYDERABAD: The Nagarkurnool police booked TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders on a complaint lodged by reserve sub-inspector Gonavardhan Patwari, who is also the district police association president.

Patwari lodged a complaint stating that the TPCC chief had made objectionable comments about police officers during a programme at Mahbubnagar on August 14. The Nagarkurnool police registered cases under IPC Sections 153 (provocation to cause riot) and 504 (insulting to provoke).

Nagarkurnool inspector B. Vishnuvardhan Reddy said that Patwari stated that Revanth Reddy had abused and made objectionable comments about police officers. The comments hurt the sentiments of police and damaged police values, Patwari said and sought stern action.

The complainant also alleged that Revanth Reddy had threatened that he would strip and trash policemen for supporting BRS leaders.

The TPCC chief was speaking at an event where a few BRS leaders had joined Congress in Mahbubnagar.
