KCR didn’t celebrate Liberation Day for fear of losing Muslim vote bank: BJP
WARANGAL: When the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day on a grand note, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who realised his mistake and announced that he would celebrate the occasion as an Integration Day, is fearing that he would lose the vote bank of Muslim minorities, alleged the BJP district unit president Rao Padma.
After paying tributes to the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar at the bus stand circle, led by Rao Padma, the BJP leaders took out a rally up to Amardhamam and paid tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives fighting against the Nizam rulers here in Parkal constituency in Warangal district on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao Padma said that from the past several years onwards, the BJP has been observing the Telangana Liberation Day. Even after the formation of Telangana state, it started celebrating the occasion.
But Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao, who used September 17 during the separate Telangana movement, forgot to celebrate it after the formation of Telangana state for fear of losing votes of Muslim minorities.
When Modi decided to celebrate it on a grand note this year, he opened his eyes and, as part of damage control, started celebrating it as Integration Day instead of observing the day as the liberation of Telangana state from the clutches of cruel Nizam rulers.
She demanded the state government to include the history of the Telangana Armed Struggle and the sacrifices made by the many brave people in the school syllabus so that the coming generation would understand the importance of the day.
BJP state general secretary Gujjala Premendar Reddy, former MLAs Onteru Jaipal and Mandadi Satyanarana Reddy, leaders Dr Vijay Chander Reddy, Gurumurthy Shiva Kumar, G. Satyanarayana Rao, D. Sadanandam, Ravula Kishan, D. Sambaiah, Errabelli Pradeep Rao, Kusuma Satish, Sammi Reddy, Nagaraju, Hari Shankar, Bhadraiah and Purna Chary were present along with others.
