TD-JS leaders to work together, ready for 'sacrifices' in seat-sharing process

VIJAYAWADA: As Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has announced his party’s alliance with the Telugu Desam in the upcoming polls in AP, leaders from both the parties are getting set to work together. The seat sharing between the two parties will be based on the chances of winning while some leaders have to be ready for personal sacrifices.

Pawan Kalyan said it was too early to discuss seat sharing and allotment of seats between the two parties. Leaders from both sides agree with him and they all want “a joint fight” with a common objective of dislodging the YSRC government.

The Jana Sena chief has called a meeting of his party leaders at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri on Saturday to discuss about their alliance with the TD. He made it clear that they would form a joint action committee.

TD MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudhary said, “Our party leaders and cadre have accepted their alliance with Jana Sena and we are expecting allotment of seats based on the strength of the two parties and their winning chances. We are expecting to get anti-incumbency votes in our favour as people are fed up with the YSRC government.”

However, with TD chief Chandrababu Naidu in jail and his son Lokesh busy talking to legal experts to arrange bail for Naidu, the party is yet to begin its efforts to reach out to the cadre to convince them about its alliance with the JS.

TD national spokesman Pattabhi Ram said, “The TD-JS alliance involves a lot of sacrifice.”

The Jana Sena is hopeful of getting a good number of seats mainly in five districts of erstwhile East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Visakhapatnam. Pawan Kalyan announced the name of only one contestant from Tanuku, V. Rama Chandra Rao, during his Varahi Yatra. Moreover, the party is having strong contestants in some segments and intends to protect such seats during the seat sharing talks with the TD.’

Jana Sena leader Kandula Durgesh said, “We are expecting both the parties to work in coordination and both should be accommodative in terms of sharing and allotment of seats.”
