Hyderabad: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has copied the six guarantees announced by the Congress and released the BRS manifesto on Sunday. By doing so, he has proved that the six guarantees were 'implementable' as he offered more financial assistance than the Congress has promised.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Reddy said, "When Congress announced six guarantees on September 17, BRS leaders claimed that they could not be implemented as the revenue earnings would be insufficient to honour the promises. Ironically, the BRS has incorporated those very six in its manifesto. Now the BRS leaders have lost the right to question us on our guarantees."
He said that the Congress considers the BRS manifesto as a 'waste paper' and there was no need to discuss it.
"Under the Maha Lakshmi scheme, we announced Rs 2,500 per month to women while Rao made it Rs 3,000 under Soubhagyalakshmi. We announced a gas cylinder at Rs 500 and he has promised it at Rs 400. It has been likewise with pensions, farmers, tenant farmers and agricultural labourers."
Revanth Reddy said Congress was not making false promises like Rao, but had announced Six Guarantees which could be implemented. He said that KCR had endorsed and accepted that it is possible to implement Congress guarantees by copying them.
He dubbed the BRS manifesto as an old black-and-white film that was being shown in colour.
The Congress state chief dared Rao to take a pledge along with him at Telangana Martyrs Memorial on October 17 that he is ready to seek votes without distributing liquor and money. He also said that if the government as not bankrupt, as Rao had claimed, he should pay staff salaries on the first of every month.
