Sonia Gandhi played a key role in persuading Mr Visweswar Reddy to switch over to the Congress.
The list of Congress candidates for the 87 constituencies it is contesting was sent to the Central screening committee to be chaired by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Hyderabad: Personal grievances are likely to drive some senior leaders of the TRS to abandon the party just before the Assembly elections.
Sources said Chevella MP Konda Visweswar Reddy is very unhappy with the TRS leadership because it is giving more importance to minister Patnam Mahendar Reddy in district politics and other issues. They said that despite his denial, Mr Visweswar Reddy has decided to join the Congress, which has assured him that he will be given the Chevella Lok Sabha ticket in the general election.
Congress sources said a former young woman minister who is very close to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi played a key role in persuading Mr Visweswar Reddy to switch over to the Congress.
