INDIA to discuss plan of action for 2024 elections after assembly polls: CPM

Vijayawada: CPM national general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday declared that the country is passing through a situation worse than Emergency. “To get out of the current emergency, the Narendra Modi government should be ousted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Yechury declared while addressing a Praja Rakshana Bheri meeting at the MB Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

The CPM general secretary said major agitations need to be organised against the Modi rule for implementing anti-people policies for the past 10 years.

He pointed out that the Narendra Modi government has cheated Andhra Pradesh by not granting it Special Category Status (SCS) and not implementing assurances made at the time of the state’s truncation. Yechury asked ruling YSR Congress, opposition Telugu Desam and Jana Sena parties whether they would stand with people or support BJP-RSS dispensation that has cheated AP.

The CPM general secretary said after completion of the five state assembly elections, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will meet and discuss a plan of action for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He pointed out that many secular parties have joined INDIA to defeat the RSS-backed BJP, as the nation would otherwise face a dangerous situation.

Yechury regretted that both the ruling YSRC and opposition TD, apart from Jana Sena Party are supporting BJP because they are afraid of BJP. He alleged that Prime Minister Modi has threatened leaders of these parties that they will face raids from Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax (IT), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if they do not toe the BJP line.

CPM politburo member B.V. Raghavulu, central committee member M.A. Gafoor, AP state secretary V. Srinivasa Rao, and senior leaders P. Madhu and Punyavati also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, CPM took out a big procession in Vijayawada city in which Marxist cadres from all over the state participated. Roads were full of people with red colour shirts who arrived in Vijayawada for the Praja Rakshana Bheri.
