MP: Priyanka targets Modi with Tere Naam' jibe, calls Scindia backstabber'
Bhopal: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi comparing him with the character portrayed by Bollywood star Salman Khan in his movie ‘Tere Naam’ in which the actor ‘kept crying from beginning to end’.
She also broke silence on the exit of Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Congress in March 2020, saying that he backstabbed people of Gwalior-Chambal by betraying their trust.
Addressing an election rally in Datia in Madhya Pradesh, Ms Vadra said that Mr Modi is the first PM of the country who kept lamenting that “They have abused me”.
“Have you watched Salman Khan’s movie ‘Tere Naam’ in which he kept crying from the beginning to end? I say, let’s make a movie on Modi ji with the title ‘Mere Naam’”, she said.
Commenting on Mr Scindia for the first time since he quit Congress and joined BJP in March 2020, she said that “I have worked with him in Uttar Pradesh. Actually, his height is a little short, but in arrogance, ‘waah bhai waah’ (amazing)”.
Congress workers then used to complain that Mr Scindia never addressed their issues unless they called him “Maharaja”, she said.
“Mr Scindia followed his family tradition well by making the government (of Kamal Nath) fall”, she said.
She was referring to a five-decade-old development in Madhya Pradesh in which Mr Scindia’s grandmother Vijayaraje pulled down the Congress government led by D P Mishra.
Referring to Mr Scindia, she said that “There is one thing. Modi ji (PM Narendra Modi) is good at recognising people. He has gathered traitors and cowards from all over the world and taken them into his party”.
She also targeted chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, describing him a ‘world class actor’ who can even beat Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan in acting.
