BRS misusing taxpayer money for campaign under guise of TS celebration: Revanth
Hyderabad: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday criticised the state government for using official machinery for BRS political campaign under the guise of the 21-day-long TS Formation Day celebrations.
He said the Congress would conduct protest rallies on June 22, last day of the formation day celebrations, in all 119 Assembly constituencies to explain to citizens how Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the BRS had cheated voters.
Revanth Reddy said that while the BRS members were “behaving like the celebrations are their own affair.” the people were suffering as no public servant was available at any government office since June 2 due to “campaign programmes organised by the BRS government with public money”.
He said that the people had been duped by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and it was not the time to celebrate ‘Dashabdi Vedukalu’ but one to mark ‘Dashabdi Daga (cheating)’.
He cited BRS’ pre-poll promises of KG-to-PG free education, fee reimbursements, stipend to unemployed, employment for every house, double bedroom houses, podu land pattas, farm loan waiver, 10 per cent reservation to minorities, 12 per cent reservation for STs and three-acre lands for Dalit families among the unfulfilled demands.
The TPCC chief said that the Congress would depict these 10 unfulfilled promises as “KCR’s faces, like Ravanasura.” He said the BRS had converted the Formation Day celebration into a “drunkards’ event”.
On the day, the TPCC’s political affairs committee decided to appoint former minister Mohd Shabbir Ali as its convener. Revanth Reddy made the announcement at a media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan.
Outlining the party’s plans, Revanth Reddy said that mandal committees would be appointed within 10 days, and that a public meeting held in Khammam against the backdrop of Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka padayatra.
The TPCC chief said that national party leaders were likely to participate in the meeting, in which they would discuss issues brought to notice by Bhatti as their agenda for the upcoming polls.
He accused Chandrashekar Rao of wilfully failing to recognise over 600 martyrs of the Telangana movement as “he will be forgotten by the people if they are recognised”.
Revanth Reddy slammed IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for failing to give an appointment to veteran film director B. Narsinga Rao, claiming “KTR is immature and not in a position to recognise artists and activists who highlighted Telangana culture.”
Revanth Reddy also found fault with BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar for supporting the Dharani portal, claiming that the BJP and BRS are in close company, citing Chandrashekar Rao’s alleged statement of his “friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi” in Nagpur.
