Congress activates frontal organisations in run-up to polls
ADILABAD: The Congress has activated its frontal organisations in the run-up to the Assembly elections in the state and asked its leaders to tour the districts and hold meetings with women, students and unemployed youth and farmers.
TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy asked the leaders of frontal organisations to strengthen the party from the grassroots level and expose the failures of the BRS government.
Mahila Congress state president Sunitha Rao at a party meeting held at Inrdravelli on June 16, said both BRS and BJP were two sides of a coin. She said the price of the domestic gas cylinder was Rs 400 during the Congress rule and it has increased to Rs 1,200 in the BJP regime. Crimes against women have increased in the state as the government had failed to establish the safety and security of women, she alleged.
“The recent violent incidents against women are an indication of this”, said Sunita.
Meanwhile, NSUI state president Balmoori Venkat held meetings with students in Adilabad and Nirmal. The party is also focusing on reaching out to the youth and students through the ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Congress’ and ‘Rajiv Gandhi Quiz Competitions’ to be held across the state on July 2. The winners will be presented with two-wheelers, laptops and smartphones and other 40 consolation prizes.
Party olitical advisor Suneel Kanugolu and AICC secretaries attached to Telangana are said to be monitoring these programmes in the state.
Balmoori Venkat said that they were focusing on forming NSUI committees at village, mandal, and college levels as part of strengthening the party by involving students and youths.
Youth Congress president Shiva Sena Reddy was also keen to expose the hollow promises of the BRS government on employment by organising district-level meetings with the unemployed youth.
Meanwhile, INTUC affiliated with Congress is also organising programmes in the coal belt areas to contest in the Assembly elections for a recognised trade union in Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
On the other hand, Congress Kisan Cell president Anvesh Reddy is busy forming district committees to strengthen the party and expose the government's failures in the farm sector.
