Athawale's RPI seeks alliance with TS BJP
HYDERABAD: The Republican Party of India (Athawale), headed by Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Ramdas Athawale said it is seeking an alliance with the BJP in Telangana state for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
RPI (A) national secretary Peram Siva Nageswara Rao Goud, in separate letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda, said his party is ready for an alliance to ensure that the BJP comes to power in Telangana state. Goud stated that of the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana state, there are 31 reserved seats — 19 for SCs and 12 for STs — which if allotted to RPI (A), the party will win and ensure that the BJP crosses the magic figure of 62 seats to form the government in the state.
Goud urged the BJP leadership to allocate the 31 reserved seats to RPI (A) assuring that his party can win from all these seats and give the BJP the additional strength to form the next government in Telangana state.
