PK Holds Limited Edition of Janavani, Poor Complain about Land Grab at Behest of MLA
Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan held a limited edition of his Janavani programme in a corporate hotel here on Thursday.
According to the Jana Sena spokesperson, 340 people attended the event that ran for over six hours -- from 11.30 am, until 6 pm.
After distributing cheques to the Jana Sena members facing financial problems, Pawan heard the petitions presented by the victims. He hugged them, wiped their tears and assured them that their trouble would be over after the Jana Sena wins power in AP.
Most of the complaints related to land grabbing, attacks on Dalits and denial of benefits to the fishermen.
Pawan Kalyan said he would discuss some critical issues with the Prime Minister at the next NDA meeting and seek solutions to the long-pending problems of the poor.
Initially, the JS leader interacted with the physically challenged children and said it was a pity that some such children were being left on the road and railway track by their parents.
“A law should be enacted to punish those who abandon their challenged children,’’ Pawan said and added that the sanction of a stipend of '3,000 was not enough. "Injustice is done to some even though they have valid certificates from the government,” he stated.
Pawan flared up when some families from Bheemili told him that 400 acres of land that they have been tilling for the last two decades and later purchased in parts by their ancestors, from the Revidi royal family, have been grabbed by a doctor close to the local MLA Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao.
They said after the Bhogapuram international airport plan was announced, the doctor created fake documents and claimed ownership of the land. When they went to the AP High Court, the court ordered the revenue officials to make an inquiry.
However, the joint-collector was yet to initiate the inquiry, under the pressure from the ruling party leaders, the farmers told Pawan.
Similarly some families came from Duvvada, Narsipatnam, Gajuwaka and Yellamanchili and narrated how their lands were being grabbed. “The Chief Minister is unmindful of all these, and exploiting north Andhra in the name of establishing a capital in Visakhapatnam,’’ Pawan said.
