Lokesh's civil war comments evoke mixed reactions

Vijayawada: Mixed reactions have emerged over the comments of Telugu Desam national general secretary Nara Lokesh that a civil war will be waged against the YSR Congress government over the arrest of Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Many are questioning whom Lokesh intends to target with his call for civil war. Majority people have described Lokesh comment as provocative and purely for political purposes.

The YSRC leaders are up-in-arms saying Lokesh has damaged the reputation of AP State at the national level with his civil war statement. But TD’s rank and file are happy over Lokesh’s statements, saying they have caught the attention of national leaders.

YSRC state joint secretary Karumuri Venkata Reddy said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been ruling AP State smoothly for the past four years. Opposition leaders are moving freely, conducting meetings, and criticising the state government and the CM. This shows there is full freedom in AP.

Venkata Reddy said Chandrababu has been arrested due to his proven involvement in the skill development scam and there is no political vendetta in jailing the former CM.

The YSRC leader observed that through his civil war comments, Lokesh is trying to provoke people of the state.

Not just YSRC activists, people known to be neutral too have object to the civil war statement. These citizens feel Lokesh should use words wisely. Usage of term civil war is not correct, as it has never happened in democratic India and its states, they point out.

All TD rank and file, apart from top rung leaders including AP president K Atchannaidu, have supported Lokesh’s statements. TD’s social media activists have stormed all social media platforms with posts and photos in support of Lokesh, underlining that Naidu’s arrest is political vendetta.
