KCR of the statehood movement has long disappeared: Boora

Former MP says he will have a bigger voice in BJP

HYDERABAD: Former Bhongir MP Dr Boora Narasaiah Goud, who quit the TRS last week, said that his decision to join the BJP was not in pursuit of any position but was prompted by the fact that he could raise the voice of his constituents more effectively.

“I have a lot of respect for Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao but he is not the same person he was in the separate state movement. There was no point in continuing in the TRS when I could not even get a one-minute appointment with Chandrashekar Rao with whom I wished to discuss issues of the people,” he told Deccan Chronicle on Monday.

“Every person in the TRS says he or she faces the same problem,” Dr Goud said, adding “The Telangana movement was for self-respect and self-rule. Neither of them is present anymore.”

Asked whether his joining the BJP just ahead of the Munugode byelection would help his political journey and boost the party prospects, Goud said that it would on both counts. He said that the impact of his decision was being felt with expressions of support pouring in.

Of the around 2.3 lakh voters in the constituency, a little over 66 per cent belong to Backward Classes, the community to which Dr Goud belongs.
