Cong manifesto getting overwhelming response, says Kharge
Hyderabad: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said that the Congress manifesto released on Friday was receiving an overwhelming response from the people across the state and had further boosted the party's winning prospects.
Kharge, like Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, said that Telangana was going to witness a 'toofan' (storm) which would topple the BRS government first in the Assembly polls and later the Modi government at the Centre in the Lok Sabha polls next year.
They were speaking at a public meeting in Quthbullapur on Friday.
Referring to the Six Guarantees, Kharge said the first priority was to implement the Mahalakshmi scheme for women soon after coming to power to extend monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500, gas cylinders for Rs 500, and free travel in RTC buses. All the six guarantees will be implemented within 100 days of coming to power, he reiterated.
Revanth Reddy alleged that BRS government had achieved nothing in the last nine years except making Telangana the No.1 in liquor consumption.
He rubbished Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's claims that the BRS was a 'farmer-friendly government' and asked why 8,000 farmers had committed suicide during the BRS regime.
Revanth Reddy said bribery and corruption have touched an all-time high under the BRS regime and the pathetic condition of the Kaleshwaram project was ample proof of this.
Revanth Reddy also addressed public meetings at Kottapally in Kodangal constituency during the Congress Vijayabheri yatra on Friday.
