YSRC dissidents throw slippers at Peddireddy’s convoy
ANANTAPUR: Rayalaseema regional coordinator and in-charge minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy faced embarrassing situation after dissidents, who are against Sri Satya Sai district unit president and sitting MLA M. Shankaranaryana, threw slippers at the minister’s convoy near Penukonda town on Saturday.
Police had to divert the convoy of Ramachandra Reddy, who was to attend a YSRC party review meeting in Puttaparthi Assembly segment.
The minister was on his way to Puttaparthi via Penukonda when a large number of dissidence leaders and cadres tried to stop his convoy near the Sri Krishnadevaraya’s statue on coming to know that district unit president and sitting MLA Shankar Narayana was accompanying Ramachandra Reddy in the latter’s vehicle.
Those surrounding the convoy raised slogans against the MLA and some threw slippers at the vehicle carrying the minister and the MLA when a rope party of the police tried to make way for the convoy. But as the situation turned for the worse, police diverted the convoy.
Ramachandra Reddy could be seen losing his temper. He even tried to push away some of the dissident members when police intervened and diverted the convoy. Apparently, the minister failed to convince the dissidents in Penukonda, while he could handle the dissidents in Uravakonda, Kalyandurg and Madakasira constituencies.
