KCR behaving like Tupaki Ramudu, remarks Ponnam

WARANGAL: Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of using mesmerising words to divert the attention of people despite behaving like “Tupaki Ramudu and Batala Poshetti”, and not resolving difficulties being faced by oustees of Gouravelli and Gandepally projects.

Speaking after extending support of Congress party to those displaced by the two projects at their protest site in Husnabad of Karimnagar district on Wednesday, the former MP pointed out that the foundation stone for construction of Gouravelli project had been laid in 2007 during the reign of the Congress government for supplying irrigation water to around one lakh acres of lands. 70 percent of the project works had been completed by the Congress regime.

Prabhakar recalled that as part of his poll campaign in 2014, Chandrasekhar Rao promised people that he will place a chair in Husnabad and sit on it until the Gouravelli project is complete once he (KCR) forms the government in Telangana.

“Even after BRS government has completed eight years of its rule, there have been no signs of any further progress at the Gouravelli project site,” the former MP charged. In addition, no compensation has been provided to the project oustees as part of the relief and rehabilitation package. “Not even double bedroom houses have been provided to the married among the oustees,” he observed.

Prabhakar alleged that to divert the attention of people, KCR is now celebrating the formation day of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) party in Khammam. He demanded that the Chief Minister at least now resolve all the issues of people displaced by the Gouravelli project.

“Otherwise, Congress party will intensify the agitation along with the oustees,” the former MP warned.

Husnabad assembly segment Congress in-charge A. Praveen Reddy and other leaders were present at the protest site.
