Yanamala says AP is 19th in India in DBT

VIJAYAWADA: Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh has not given any preference to welfare and development during the last year of its tenure, observed former finance minister and Telugu Desam politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Friday.

He underlined that Andhra Pradesh stands 19th in the country in implementing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. Yet, the YSRC government keeps boasting about it.

Ramakrishnudu asked how development is possible in a state where even the borrowed funds get diverted. He maintained that there is absolutely no comparison between budgetary allocations and actual expenditure at the ground level.

The former minister declared that there is nothing great in the 2023–24 budgetary proposals. He observed that even in the last fiscal, the state government did not give any priority to welfare and development.

The TD politburo member described Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy as a king worse than Nero. He predicted that the state's debt burden will cross ₹11 lakh crore by the time the YSRC government is thrown out.

"Ultimately, people of the state will have to bear the burden of debt and interest payments,” he maintained.

Ramakrishnudu felt results of the Legislative Council polls indicate that Jagan has done injustice to the state.
