VISHAKHAPATNAM: Opposition leader and TD chief Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that the YSRC government is exploiting the tribals and pushing them into poverty.
Addressing a public meeting after a road show in S Kota as a part of the party’s Idemi Karma Rashtraniki programme, Naidu alleged that bauxite and laterite were being mined extensively and wide roads were being laid for this purpose in the agency areas of ASR district.
He said the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government snatched away the reservation facility for tribals in all government jobs, by promulgating GO 3. The government failed to file a review petition in the Supreme Court that scrapped the GO, he said.
Naidu alleged that the YSRC government handed over hydropower projects to industrialist Goutam Adani and other private entities despite objections from the local tribals.
Listing out the benefits he extended to the agency areas, Chandrababu said he brought out a special DSC for appointing Adivasis as teachers even if they had no basic qualifications. But the GO was done away with by the present Jagan-led government, he said.
“I popularised Araku Coffee by becoming its ambassador and drew the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he claimed.
On the poor health services in the agency, Chandrababu said he introduced scooter ambulances to connect with the regular ambulances to help patients in situations of emergencies. But they were taken off by the present government, he said.
“Now, pregnant women are being carried on dolies and at times they are delivering babies on the road,” the TD leader said.
He said the health services would suffer further. “Hospitals refused to admit patients under the Arogyasri health scheme as pending bills were not paid.”
Stating that the financial position of the state has dipped to the lowest, Naidu said Jagan Mohan Reddy crossed all limits and borrowed Rs 10 lakh crore for the state and no one would now extend further loans to AP.
