Comprehensive survey reports of 175 constituencies reach Jagan
VIJAYAWADA: The ruling YSR Congress MLAs seeking party ticket for the next polls are preparing to face a ‘litmus test’ from Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on June 21, when their performances in the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam mass contact programme will be reviewed.
The CM was already reviewing the performances of YSRC legislators every three months. He is currently set to take hard decisions against those MLAs who were found to be poor performers. They number around 30-40.
The CM has made it clear that he would give tickets to only the ‘winning horses’.
The chief minister would also give instructions to his partymen on the Jagananna Suraksha mass outreach programme starting on June 23.
Notably, the chief minister has cleared the air on early elections by openly affirming that AP will have the normal election schedule. He has asked ministers, MLAs and MPs to make good use of the 10 months ahead for betterment of their performances.
“Tickets for the mega battle of 2024 will be given purely on the basis operformances and there is no hesitation to deny tickets to poor performers, who would be replaced with new faces, the CM has said.
Jagan Reddy has appointed four leaders as constituency incharges in place of the suspended four MLAs who had shifted their loyalties to the Telugu Desam.
The CM had revealed the names of the MLAs who raised their performance graph and of the poor performers, while speaking at a party workshop he held in the last week of March. The 30-40 poor performers were told to work hard and raise their graph before the next meeting set for June 21.
The comprehensive survey reports of 175 constituencies reached the CM two days ago.
Last year, on May 11, the chief minister launched the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam mass contact programme across the state. He advised the ministers and MLAs to stay in the public sphere for at least 16 to 21 days every month. Everyone should use the programme GGMP to get closer to the people, he had said.
Following this, almost 80 per cent of the legislators are constantly increasing their graph but no change is evident in 20 per cent of the legislators, party sources said.
