Sharad Pawar Calls BRS as B Team of BJP

MUMBAI: Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s aggressive political campaigns in Maharashtra have made the state’s opposition parties jittery. While the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which comprises of Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT), leaders feel that the KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) may not win any election in Maharashtra, it could damage prospects of the Opposition by splitting anti-incumbency votes. NCP chief Sharad Pawar has even called BRS the B team of the BJP.

The Congress and NCP alliance lost several Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra in 2019 because of the alliance of Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM.

In 2024, the UPA hopes to do better as the Shiv Sena (UBT) is with them and Ambedkar may also join them.
