Focus on progress of Old City, Congress tells MIM
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad DCC president Sameer Waliullah slammed AIMIM MLC Rahmat Baig for threatening to attack the convoy of TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy after he referred to AIMIM as a B-team of the BJP.
Cautioning that they could retaliate in a similar manner, Waliullah clarified that Congress did not endorse politics of vendetta and intimidation.
He pointed out that Baig was trying to target the entire Congress party for the 2020 incident when some Congress councillors had a truck with BJP to seize the posts of municipal chairman and vice-chairman from the BRS. He emphasized that the BRS and BJP had alliances in several municipalities to keep Congress out of power.
"Why did AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi continue his alliance with the BRS and not ask Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to sever ties with BJP in those municipalities?" he wondered.
Waliullah asked Baig to come up with statistics on how many poor families in the Old City had received double-bedroom houses provided by the state government. He ridiculed the MIM for not getting metro rail connectivity to the Old City, despite claiming to be an ally of the BRS. He wished the MIM would concentrate on developing the Old City and help improve the lives of the people.
