CPM questions top leaders' silence on public sector

Visakhapatnam: CPM state secretary K. Lokanadham on Thursday criticised all top leaders of AP’s political parties for remaining silent on protection of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and other public sector units.

He pointed out that YSRC chief and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena supremo K. Pawan Kalyan have all visited Visakhapatnam. But they have not said a word about not privatising the VSP and other public sector industries.

Addressing media here, the CPM state secretary underlined that Vizag had been visited by Jagan on August 1, Pawan on August 10 and Naidu on August 15.

“Why have the trio not talked about the steel plant, when its workers have been protesting for past 900 days,” Lokanadham asked. Likewise, he said they have also not talked about Gangavaram port workers, who have been agitating for last 44 days.

District secretary M. Jaggunaidu and secretariat member R.K.S.V. Kumar were present at the press conference.
