HYDERABAD: State BJP leader Etala Rajendar said on Thursday that about 20 leaders from Congress and the BRS were set to join the party fold soon.
Speaking to media persons in Nirmal on Thursday, Rajendar, chairman of the BJP’s ‘joinings’ committee, said discussions have been held with 20 to 22 leaders. The discussions have been kept under wraps following the reluctance of former BRS leaders Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao to join the BJP after Rajendar and other BJP leaders met them in a blaze of media publicity.
Meanwhile, Dr K. Laxman, MP and BJP parliamentary board member, told reporters in New Delhi that the BJP had prepared a special plan to come to power in Telangana. “There is tremendous opposition to the BRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao among the people and we will convert this Opposition into support for the BJP. We will be implementing a 100-day action plan, and will field candidates who can win in the elections,” he said.
“We will be inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch development projects and programmes. Minister K.T. Rama Rao and the Chief Minister must explain why they are silent on announcements on the new railway lines for Telangana. KTR must open his eyes to see Centre’s contribution to Telangana,” he said.
