Congress\'s 59 Promises in Manifesto for MP Polls
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath on Tuesday released his party’s election manifesto for the November 17 assembly polls, making a slew of promises which included free electricity, free education, health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh, allowance to unemployed youths, and an IPL team for the state.
The 106-page manifesto contained 59 promises.
The manifesto promised various welfare schemes benefitting all sections of society including farmers, women, youths, and government employees.
“We will provide health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh, which also has an accidental cover of Rs ten lakh, for all people”, Mr Nath said.
He announced that his government would sponsor an Indian Premier League (IPL) of Madhya Pradesh if Congress was voted to power in the ensuing assembly polls.
The manifesto also promised to write off crop loans of farmers up to Rs two lakh each, besides buying cow dung at Rs two a kg from them.
Mr Nath pledged to provide financial assistance of Rs 1500 per month to women and LPG at Rs 500.
He announced that there would be no tariff for consumption of electricity up to 100 units.
Education up to Class XII would be made free.
The manifesto promised to provide unemployment allowance for youth ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month for two years.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the election manifesto of Congress as ‘manifesto of lies’, saying that the Kamal Nath government had failed to fulfil even nine out of 973 promises made by his party before the 2018 assembly elections.
